Java Developer - Propeller Head?

Description

Java Developer / Java Software Engineer(s) (Java J2SE / C++) sought by global leading Investment Bank based in the City. You will join their cash equities division, which prides itself on the quality of its in-house developed platform with exceptional performance and scaling characteristics (currently 600,000 transactions per second).

As a Java Developer you will design, develop and maintain server-side low latency, high throughput solutions, working closely with the Equity team in London and gaining exposure to the European algorithmic trading platforms.

This position requires a true technologist who will relish the idea of shaving off milliseconds per transaction and will enjoy investigating and recommending new techniques - this bank predicts that it is at least 5 years ahead of its competition and is seeking a true “propeller head” over finance or banking experience.

Requirements for Java Developer:
• Expert Java J2SE server-side development experience (background in C++ considered but role is Java going forward)
• Thorough understanding of computing fundamentals, low level computing and networking concepts
• Detailed knowledge of UNIX (Linux or Solaris)
• Consistent track record of demonstrating initiative, ownership, leadership, collaboration
• FIX advantageous
• Finance background not required
