The Story: Staying ahead of the curve with Mohamed Sakher SawanPosted 11 months ago by Client Server

Mohamed Sakher Sawan has always had a keen interest in tech. Growing up, he was “fascinated by the possibilities technology offered and how it could be used to solve various problems.”

When he was six years old, he called into a radio program talking about technology and computers. There was a computer company called Sakhr, which happened to be the same as his name, and he was curious to know more. The professor said he hoped someday he would become an expert in computers. That stuck with him.

His interest in tech led him to pursue a career in software engineering and information systems, working on cutting-edge projects throughout his career.

He started off learning QBasic from a generic IT book from his father’s university curriculum, later completing his Bachelor of Software Engineering and Information Systems at the University of Aleppo, and then entering the tech job market as a software engineer and senior .NET developer.

His desire to continue evolving within the industry stems from his passion for using technology to solve real-world problems. “I would like to continue leading and growing teams that develop innovative solutions and make a significant impact in the world.”

One of the biggest lessons he has learned throughout his career is the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in technology. “The tech industry is constantly evolving, and it's crucial to stay ahead of the curve to remain competitive and successful.”

“I would tell my younger self to stay curious, be open to new experiences, and never stop learning. Embracing change and being adaptable are essential traits to have in the tech industry, as they will help you stay ahead of the curve and succeed in your career,” says Sakher.

Having also been previously placed back in 2018 by Client Server Team lead, Adam Juckes, Sakher says “Working with Client Server was an exceptional experience. They were professional, respectful, and genuinely dedicated to helping me find the right job. As a refugee visa holder at the time, they helped me secure multiple interviews with amazing companies and ultimately landed me a fantastic role as an engineering manager at Smartnumbers. Their support, advice, and insights were invaluable throughout the job search process.”
