Powering Potential: How to craft your CV and LinkedIn for job hunt successPosted 9 months ago by Lily-Rose Bird

If you're an experienced technology recruiter, you'll know how competitive the job market is, and making sure your CV and LinkedIn profile stand out from the crowd is crucial.

Here are a few tips on how to best craft your CV and LinkedIn profile to land your next job:

CV

  • Start by highlighting your most relevant skills and experience. What are your strengths? What are the specific skills and experience that you have that would be most valuable to a potential employer? Make sure to highlight these in a succinct and clear way.
  • Quantify your results. When you're discussing your experience, be sure to quantify your results. This will help potential employers understand the impact you've had in your previous roles. For example, instead of saying "I was responsible for recruiting top talent," say "I recruited 25 top tech talent in the past year, with a 90% placement rate."
  • Highlight your accomplishments. What are some of your most notable accomplishments as a technology recruiter? Did you exceed your hiring goals? Be sure to highlight these accomplishments in your CV. Recruitment is a numbers game so don’t be afraid of adding impressive billing figures (they’re eye-catching)!
  • Use keywords throughout your CV. When you're applying for jobs online, sometimes your CV may be scanned by an applicant tracking system (ATS) for keywords. If your CV doesn't contain the right keywords, it may not even be seen by a human recruiter. So be sure to use keywords throughout your CV, especially in the skills section.
  • Get feedback from others. Once you've finished your CV, ask someone else to review it for you. This could be a friend, family member, or former colleague. They can help you identify any areas that need improvement. It is easy for us to skip over mistakes when we know what it should say so a second pair of eyes can help a lot.

LinkedIn

  • Complete your profile. Your LinkedIn profile is a digital representation of your CV, so it's important to make sure it's complete and up to date. Be sure to include your skills, experience, and education.
  • Use keywords in your profile. Just like with your CV, you'll want to use keywords throughout your LinkedIn profile. This will help your profile show up in relevant search results.
  • Connect with people in your network. Your network is a valuable resource when you're looking for a new job. So be sure to connect with people in your network who work in the tech recruitment industry. You never know who might be able to help you land your next job. Connecting to internal recruiters, rec2recs,  and even reaching out for their help.

Remember; your CV and LinkedIn are the first thing anyone will see… don’t let it be the reason you aren’t progressing to interviews!
