Data Engineering Lead (GCP BigQuery DBT) Krakow to 35,000 PLN p/month

Are you a senior Data Engineer with GCP skills combined with leadership experience?

As a Data Engineering Lead you'll lead the delivery of data pipeline and platform capabilities within the GCP consolidation programme, owning Squad commitments end-to-end across batch and real time Kafka workloads. You'll combine technical leadership with people management, coaching and developing a Squad of Data Engineers while fostering a culture of engineering excellence, ownership and continuous improvement.

Data quality will be a key priority. You'll embed data contracts, observability and SLA monitoring across ingestion and transformation layers within the Medallion architecture, ensuring data is reliable, fresh and fit for purpose.

You'll act as the technical point of contact for stakeholders across Compliance, Marketing and Data Science, translating business requirements into clear, well-scoped engineering deliverables. You'll also bring strong delivery discipline to the Squad, managing sprint cadences and commitments, identifying and escalating risks early, and reporting on pipeline SLOs, data freshness and DORA-style engineering metrics.

Location / WFH:

You'll join colleagues in the Krakow offices that offer a wide range of facilities and all the latest kit, with flexibility to work from home twice a week.

About you:

• You have experience of leading or technically mentoring data engineers, with the ability to set standards, conduct code and design reviews and develop the engineers' capabilities 
• You have strong, hands-on experience building and operating production grade data pipelines on GCP including BigQuery, with strong SQL and Python skills 
• You have experience with Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming / pub/sub technologies, including designing event driven ingestion patterns and troubleshooting real time data flows under operational conditions 
• You're familiar with modern transformation tooling, particularly DBT and have an appreciation of Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) architecture patterns and how they support self-service analytics 
• You're comfortable working in a regulated financial services environment, with an understanding of data governance requirements (lineage, access control, audit trails) and the discipline to operate within change control processes 
• You have fluent English language skills
