The Big Q: How can we recruit developers who aren't interested in chasing the 'new and shiny'?Posted over 4 years ago by Client Server

Q : My company uses a lot of legacy code. Much of what we do involves fixing and improving things. When interviewing junior developers, we are often asked about using the latest versions of languages. While I see the appeal of new shiny versions, how do we recruit developers who aren't interested in chasing that?

A : One of the biggest benefits of working with Client Server is that we aren't a recruitment agency - we're a consultancy. We aren't interested in simply 'filling' jobs and ticking boxes. We want to put forward exceptional individuals who want to work for your company, are a good cultural fit, and want to work with your tech stack.

So, if you're a company that uses a lot of legacy code and aren't going to be using anything 'new and shiny,' it's not in our interest to put forward candidates who are motiviated by that.
