International Women's Day: Our part in shrinking the diversity gapPosted about 1 year ago by Client Server

Client Server is dedicated to building diverse technology teams globally. We see first-hand the benefits of hiring a diverse team and encourage our clients to have regular conversations around diversity to ensure their attitudes reflect our own. We help clients with specific diversity needs by implementing female-friendly recruitment processes such as blind hiring and by writing adverts that use female-coded words, highlight female-friendly benefits, and include DEI statements to build diverse pipelines.

Spreading awareness about the lack of females in technology is incredibly important to us and we regularly collaborate with clients and candidates to create and promote content on the topic.

“As of 2022, women hold 26.7% of technology jobs. Notably, compared to entry-level roles, roles higher up in the org chart (like CTOs or heads of engineering) have even lower representation of women.”

In 2022 we are proud to have placed 13% of total placements into technology roles. We are always striving to improve these figures year after year and will continue to do our part to shrink the diversity gap in tech.

What some of our female placements are saying:

Kiesia Carmine: We placed Kiesia into a Security Engineer role at SoundCloud. Kiesia said: “I’ve been with SoundCloud for the last few months and am building my life in Berlin. I’m very happy to have landed in such a dynamic, supportive, and inspiring workplace.”

Olga Ukhina: We helped Olga find her dream role as a Production Engineer at SoundCloud. Olga didn’t believe that she would be able to secure this role, but our consultant Nick supported her every step of the way through 4 rounds of interviews and reassured her during moments of uncertainty. Olga said: “It was unbelievable when they offered me the position in one of the core teams at SoundCloud. One might say I haven’t felt such happiness for a long time, and I still feel like it’s a fantasy!”

Beverly Kwok: We placed Beverly in her first role in the UK, as a Business Analyst at Axi. Beverly said: “Don’t put any limits on your self-ability and imagination.” Also, “I would like to express my thanks for the help from Client Server, and also the kind service Matt Challis provided. The advice he gave me on how to deal with the questions, and how the interviews look, was very helpful for me to prepare myself. That's why the process suddenly became smooth, and I got an offer very soon.”

What some of our female employees say:

Rosie-May Parker | Team Lead: “Client Server has supported me through my journey from trainee consultant to Team Lead. After a couple of years, I realised I wanted to lead the JavaScript team as I got so much enjoyment from mentoring my colleagues and helping them achieve success. Once established with my line manager and directors, I was supported every step of the way.”

Jessica McBride | Senior Consultant: “I have always felt supported. There has been a clear plan mapped out for my personal progression within the business. Since joining, I have been promoted to Senior Consultant and now have the responsibility of mentoring another consultant.”
