Data Center Engineer New Jersey to $175k
Do you have a strong knowledge of Data Center operations? You could be progressing your career in a hands-on role at a global proprietary algorithmic trading firm; you'll be working on complex and interesting systems as part of a collaborative team with a flat structure where everyone has their voice heard.
As a Data Center Engineer you will join a small team responsible for working closely with engineers and traders to optimize the firms' data center footprint for low latency and efficiency.
Responsibilities will encompass:
- Managing shipping and receiving hardware at the data center
- Inventory and documentation of data center hardware
- Installation of cable switches, servers and other data center equipment
- Travel to local data centers on a frequent basis
- Risk assessments of existing or new services and technologies
Location / WFH:
The company has offices based in New Jersey, you'll join the team there on a hybrid work from home basis (with some local travel to Data Centers).
The whole global team meet up twice a year for a week of networking, fun and team building.
About you:
- You have a strong knowledge of data center best practices such as power management, cooling and capacity planning
- You have basic network troubleshooting concepts
- You're familiar with testing and installing fiber optic cables and optical taps
- You have a good understanding of different network and server components; SFPs, modules, RAM
- You are comfortable using Windows or Linux systems
- You have strong communication and collaboration skills, happy to interact with management, vendors and external parties
- You have excellent English language communication skills
