FinOps Lead (AI) Reigate / WFH to £95k

As a FinOps Lead your primary focus will be to maximise the business value of AI and GenAI investment through effective governance, consumption optimisation, unit economics and value measurement, while retaining FinOps responsibility across the wider cloud estate.

You'll act as the subject matter expert for AI and model consumption, advising teams on best practice. You'll analyse cloud and AI spend, improve cost allocation and accountability and establish governance, controls and standards across AI and cloud usage.

Collaborating with Engineering, Product and Finance, you'll identify opportunities to reduce consumption without compromising outcomes, using techniques such as prompt optimisation, context management, caching, model routing and batching. You'll also analyse LLMs and models across providers and pricing tiers to inform cost effective technology decisions.

You'll develop AI FinOps and Token Economics frameworks, alongside financial dashboards and reporting covering AI unit economics, token efficiency, forecasts and value-realisation metrics as well as budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, maintaining an optimisation pipeline spanning AI consumption and traditional cloud levers such as rightsizing, reservations, storage and workload scheduling.

The role will also involve assessing FinOps maturity, researching new Azure and AI capabilities, developing training and documentation and working with stakeholders at all levels to drive continuous improvement.

Location / WFH:

There's a flexible work from home hybrid model, you'll join colleagues in the Reigate or Cambridge office once a week.

About you:

• You have experience in AI / ML or GenAI cost management, including token based consumption models, together with practical experience of FinOps or cloud financial management
• You have experience with token usage monitoring or metering tools and are familiar with performance optimisation practices, such as instance rightsizing, workload optimisation and model inference efficiency
• You have a working knowledge of LLM / GenAI pricing structures across major providers (e.g. Azure OpenAI, Anthropic etc.)
• You have an understanding of Azure Cost Management, cost allocation and tagging, forecasting and budgeting and commitment based discount management
• You have experience of translating cloud and AI consumption data into accountable ownership, optimisation actions and measurable financial outcomes
• You have strong reporting, problem solving and analytical abilities
• You can translate complex data into clear, meaningful visual insights for technical and non-technical audiences
• You have advanced collaboration, communication and influencing skills
