Network Engineer (Ultra Low Latency) Remote USA* to €200k

Do you have expertise with Network Engineering? You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on role at a global proprietary algorithmic trading firm; you'll be working on complex and interesting systems as part of a collaborative team with a flat structure where everyone has their voice heard.

As a Network Engineer you will design the global network infrastructure - encompassing all low latency network connectivity, WAN/LAN, multicast routing, data center design, troubleshooting intermittent packet loss, latency issues, trading system connectivity as well as various security initiatives.

You'll troubleshoot complex network and systems issues from bit level through to application layer and proactively recommend enhancements to the existing configurations, technologies and procedures and will be empowered to automate all tasks that can be automated with the ultimate aim of achieving maximum speed and efficiency.

Location / WFH:

The company has offices based in Chicago and New York, you could be based in either or alternatively you can work from home on a full-time basis (*please note you must be a US citizen or have the right to work).

The whole global team meet up twice a year for a week of networking, fun and team building.

About you:

• You are an experienced Network Engineer with experience of working on low latency network environments within finance / trading
• You have experience of designing network architecture, maintenance and monitoring
• You have a thorough knowledge of the TCP/IP suite and extensive experience with multicast networks (including design and troubleshooting)
• You have experience of optimising exchange connectivity performance
• You have experience of managing connectivity for a largely remote workforce (software / hardware VPNs, head end units, load balancers, etc)
• You have a good understanding of advanced networking concepts and related technologies such as: QoS, CoS, IDS/IPS, VoIP, flow control, STP, NAT, protocol tuning, store-and-forward switching and cut-through switching
• You have experience with packet sniffing applications (Snort, TCPDump, Wireshark, Netmon, etc)
• You have experience with cloud network management such as AWS, GCP
• You have excellent English language communication and collaboration skills, you enjoy problem solving and using critical thinking

• You're degree educated to Masters / MSc level in Computer Science or closely related discipline

• You are an Amercian citizen or hold a Green Card
