Principal Front End Developer (Vue 3 React) Christchurch / WFH to $160,000 NZ

Do you have expertise with Front End development?

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on Principal Front End Developer role a global financial services company as they rebuild the international payments platform, working within the Corporate Payments division.

As a Principal Front End Developer you'll drive frontend architecture, champion clean code and engineering best practices and mentor developers while working closely with designers and stakeholders to deliver polished, intuitive user experiences.

You'll build and maintain scalable frontend applications using Vue 3+ and TypeScript, developing responsive, accessible interfaces with Tailwind CSS, HTML5 and CSS3. You'll take ownership of frontend architecture, testing and code quality, using tools such as Vitest and Vite to support reliable, maintainable software.

Alongside coding, you'll lead code reviews, mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across the team. Working collaboratively in an Agile environment, you'll translate UX/UI designs into high-quality interfaces, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and leverage AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Copilot to improve productivity.

Location / WFH:

There's a hybrid work from home policy, you'll join colleagues in the Christchurch office three days a week.

About you:

• You have strong Front End development using Vue (3+), or other major frontend framework e.g. React, with the desire to switch to Vue
• You have strong knowledge of TypeScript / JavaScript
• You have experience mentoring other developers regarding best practices and code quality including code reviews
• You have a strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3 and responsive web design principles
• You have an understanding of UX/UI design principles and the ability to collaborate closely with designers to create visually appealing and intuitive interfaces
• You have experience or open mindset for using AI coding tools like Claude Code, Copilot etc.
• You have strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to align engineers and stakeholders around a technical direction
