AI Engineer (Python LLM) Madrid / WFH to €140,000
Are you an experienced Python Software Engineer looking to work on cutting-edge AI products where you can take ownership of architecture, platform engineering and the full development lifecycle?
This is an opportunity to build next-generation, agentic AI systems that solve complex real-world problems for the healthcare sector, focussing on a call centre application that frees up time for clinicians.
As an AI Engineer you'll take ownership of core AI services from design through to production, building scalable, resilient backend platforms and the infrastructure that enables AI products to perform reliably at scale.
Working with a modern Python stack, you'll design clean, modular services using SOLID principles, develop high-performance APIs with FastAPI, asyncio and Pydantic, and build the platforms that power automated evaluation pipelines, retrieval systems and multi-agent orchestration. You'll engineer robust RAG pipelines, optimise search, caching and data retrieval and ensure AI outputs remain accurate, observable and production ready.
You'll also play a key role in building platform capabilities around monitoring, tracing and operational excellence, implementing OpenTelemetry, structured logging, dashboards and automated quality gates that provide deep insight into model performance, latency, cost and reliability before new features reach production.
This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to influence architecture, define engineering standards and help shape a highly scalable AI platform using modern Python, distributed systems and cloud-native engineering practices.
Location / WFH:
You can work from home most of the time (based in Spain), with occasional meet-ups in the Madrid office.
