Job Description

Systems Administrator (Windows / Linux Networking Virtualisation). Market leading investment platform provider servicing investment portfolios of more than £19 billion is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator with cross platform experience.

As a Systems Administrator you will be responsible for the design, installation, upgrading and maintenance of Windows and Linux server systems, network, voice and desktop infrastructures. You'll help ensure the availability of all relevant systems through regular monitoring and change control strategies; specify and order equipment, software and services; maintain effective documentation and manager user accounts and access levels. Responsibilities will also include assisting with the development and control of the IT security policy, ensuring that all systems and legal requirements are met. As a senior member of the team you'll also provide coaching and mentoring to more junior Systems Administrators and 1st/2nd line support staff as well as liaising with stake holders to provide regular updates on work loads, outages, systems improvements and any other IT issue that may affect business operations.

Requirements:
*Strong knowledge of both Microsoft and Linux server environments
*Experience with server builds configuration and remote management
*Detailed working knowledge of local and wide area networking and associated technologies, e.g. switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs
*Good understanding of Virtualisation technologies, with hands on experience of RHEV, Hyper-V or VMWare
*Good scripting skills with at least one of following: PowerShell, Python, Bash
*Familiar with configuration management and orchestration tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, SaltStack
*Understanding of security principles
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
