Lead QA Engineer Remote UK to £65k

Are you a senior level QA Engineer who enjoys taking ownership and working autonomously?

You could be progressing your career as a Lead QA Engineer at a growing scale-up technology company that is utilising Machine Learning and AI technology to revolutionise fish farming, improving fish health and growth; their carbon neutral technology is already making a difference in Scotland, Chile, Canada, Australia, Spain and Norway and the company has ambitious growth plans.

As the Lead QA Engineer you will work alongside engineers and Product teams to define test strategy, design and execute test cases, maintain comprehensive regression coverage and continually improve the QA processes. You'll be responsible for ensuring every release is thoroughly tested, making clear, evidence-based decisions and providing engineering and business stakeholders with a transparent view of release readiness and risk.

You'll own the evolution of our testing practices, keeping test suites, automation and regression packs aligned with a rapidly changing product. You'll identify gaps in coverage, assess the impact of new features, and ensure quality remains a core part of the development process rather than a final checkpoint.

Location / WFH:

You can work from home remotely from anywhere in the UK, there is also flexibility to work abroad for periods throughout the year and flexible start and finish times. There are two company "kick-off" meetings per year at great destinations for a week at a time.

About you:

• You have strong QA Testing skills with significant experience in a lead or senior role within a small company with lots of ownership (people management isn't necessary)
• You're hands-on with writing test cases, running exploratory sessions and digging into bugs yourself
• You have experience defining test strategy and building / maintaining regression suites
• You have experience of assessing and communicating release risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You have a good understanding of testing across web applications, APIs and third-party integrations, data driven systems and hardware / edge devices
• You have experience with test automation (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar) and know when to use it
• You're comfortable working in an Agile environment with CI/CD pipelines
